Spec MCC03: Coating of Lead Flashings

Specification for the coating of Lead Flashing on Roofs

Prepare the surface to be coated as follows:

  1. Wash down the lead thoroughly with a detergent (e.g. washing up liquid diluted in water) to remove contaminants and allowed to dry.
  2. When dry, abrade the lead surface, to provide a key for the primer coating, and remove all loose particles removed.
  3. Apply one coating of Temacoat GPLS primer and allow to dry.
  4. Apply one coat of Temadur 90 as a top coating.

Spec MCC04: Coating of Old Stainless Steel Balusstrade

Draft specification for the coating of Old Stainless Steel balustrade.

Prepare the surface to be coated as follows:

  1. Solvent wipe the stainless steel thoroughly with Fortaclean A156 thinners to remove contaminants and allowed to dry.
  2. When dry, abrade the stainless steel surface, to provide a key for the primer coating. Remove any loose particles.
  3. Apply one thin coating of Temacoat GPLS primer RAL 7016 and allow to dry thoroughly.
  4. Apply one coat of Temadur 90 RAL 7016 as a top coating.

Spec MCC06: Repainting Pre Painted Metal Gutters and Similar Products ZPQ623 E212MIO

Draft specification for the painting of Pre-painted Cast-iron Gutters and similar products.

Prepare the surface to be coated as follows:

  1. Remove all loose particles and rust by wire brushing and sanding. Solvent wipe with Fortaclean A156 thinners to remove contaminants and allowed to dry.
  2. Apply one coat of Fortaprime Q623 zinc phosphate primer to all areas where rust has been removed and where primer is necessary, and allow to dry thoroughly. ( Note: the intercoat adhesion of Fortaprime Q623 and the existing paint must be tested prior to applying Fortaprime Q623 to all the gutters)
  3. Apply one coat of Fortalac E212 micaceous iron oxide paint to the selected colour as a top coating. ( Note: the intercoat adhesion of Fortalac E212 and the existing paint must be tested prior to applying to all of the gutters)
